How do I use your Plex Server?

  • Visit https://www.plex.tv and create an account if you haven’t already. Once you’ve accomplished this, reach out to me and I will add your email to the user list. As soon as you are added to the list of users, you will receive an email saying you’ve been invited to the plex server. Sign into plex on one of your devices and you should have access to SethFlix. MAKE SURE YOU ARE VIEWING SETHFLIX AND NOT PLEX’S DEFAULT CONTENT. WHEN SORTED BY TITLE ON THE MOVIES TAB YOU SHOULD SEE SETHFLIX RECENTLY ADDED AT THE VERY TOP.
  • Be sure to go into the settings of Plex on all devices and set the remote stream quality to be as high as possible, unless you tell it otherwise. This is actually better for the server as it won’t have to transcode the content and can deliver you the raw (and highest quality version) of the file. If you are having issues with the quality of the file being terrible, it is likely because its being transcoded and you need to raise your stream quality.

My stream is buffering a lot!

  • This is a multifaceted issue. It can mean a lot of things. Be sure to do everything on your end to ensure your internet speeds are optimal (Make sure no-one else is downloading or viewing content that is bandwidth heavy and will throttle your speeds).
  • Turn down your stream quality slowly until you can steadily stream without buffering.
  • Remember that during peak hours many people are likely using the server, and when this happens everyone is sharing a 50 MBPS pipeline. This can mean you will have to transcode to keep bandwidth within limits.

I can’t access your plex server, even though I’ve accessed it before.

  • The easiest way to check and see if the server is operating as normal, is to check the SethFlix Status Page, If that page shows plex as up, it is working as expected on my end.

I want to request content for the server, where do I go?

  • Visit the SethFlix Request Hub and login with your plex information. Once you have logged in you may request movies. TV Shows will not be automatically approved, but movies will.

I requested a movie but it isn’t on the server!

  • While most content will be on the server within 15-20 minutes some requests will take longer and can even take up to a few days to fulfill (TV Series can take MUCH longer). If it’s not on the server within 3 days, please feel free to reach out and I will attempt to manually grab the file. Remember that this is a free service, and to please be patient especially with uncommon requests.
